Wood was one of the first materials used by humankind: an abundant resource, easy to manipulate, handle, and sculpt.

Yet, it is more than a mere raw material; it is an organic, constituent part of a living being.

The most harmful consequence of wood’s unbridled industrialization is deforestation, which carries devastating effects. Trees are complex and incredible organisms, and their disappearance has a brutal, visible impact on climate change, among other things. This industry also generates immense waste, as the pursuit of virgin wood is prioritized over reusing existing sources—wood that is often carelessly discarded as trash.

Bordalo´s wooden pieces are created from that very "trash." They are reclaimed wood from building demolitions, waste from the manufacturing industry, and many other sources.

By repurposing this material—a gift from nature that we so arrogantly discard—Bordalo gives it a new existence. It is an existence as ephemeral as the material itself, yet eternal in its form and message.
